Your journal is yours.
Journal keeps the most personal thing you write. Here is plainly what happens to it.
What we keep
- Your email address, to sign you in with a code.
- What you write or say to the journal. In a live call your voice is transcribed as you speak; we keep the words, never the audio.
- The companion's replies, each day's kept lines, summary and painting, and the notes it keeps about you, which you can read and edit in Settings.
- If you allow location: a place name, coordinates rounded to about 100 meters, and the weather, saved with your lines.
- Your settings, and, if you turn them on, the address your browser gives us for notifications.
Who helps
- Anthropic (Claude) writes the replies and paints your days. Your words are sent to Anthropic's API to do that. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is not used to train their models.
- Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap turn coordinates into weather and a place name. They receive coordinates, never your words.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails.
- LiveKit carries live voice calls; speech is transcribed and spoken through its services while the call is open, and the words are saved to your journal.
- Stripe handles subscriptions and payments. We never see or store your card.
What we never do
We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your journal with anyone except the services above, and only for the job described. Nobody browses journals.
Your control
In Settings you can download everything you have written as a file, edit or clear what the companion remembers, delete single lines, and delete your whole account, which removes your days, paintings and notes from our database right away.
